This update highlights the national award received by Washington State University's 20-year old Beach Watcher program. This program has trained over 1,000 citizens in Washington. In recognition of this outstanding public engagement program the Universities Council on Water Resources (UCOWR) chose to give the program the "Public Service and Education" award at its annual conference. This flyer highlights the career of a scientist who has made many contributions to improved water quality in the region. He has mentored over 25 graduate students in his career.
