PNW 184: 10 Years of Regional Progress: Drinking Water and Human Health
This update highlights our drinking water and human health efforts over the last decade. Specific project outputs include: 1) domestic water use handbook, 2) several contaminant specific fact sheets, 3) regional wells and septic system program, 4) regional expertise directory, 5) regional conference on groundwater, and 6) a project directed at protecting groundwater in rural Alaska. PNW 183: Stormwater Management Education and Outreach
This update highlights the efforts of the PNW Water Quality Program in bringing stormwater management and outreach to the public over the last decade. The Team recognized it needed a response to the increased urbanization and the resulting increase in stormnwater. Since 2001 the WQ Program has produced both satellite and internet based video workshops as well as face-to-face meetings to educate those involved in stormwater management. PNW 182: Henry's Fork of the Snake River Watershed
This update highlights the objectives of a National Integrated WQ Program project being conducted by researchers and educators from Humboldt State University in California. They were awarded a competitive grant to study the effects on land use pattern change from agriculture to suburban/resort development on the Henry Fork watershed in eastern Idaho/western Wyoming. PNW 181: Symposium on IPM and WQ Yields Exciting New Ideas for Collaboration
This update highlights the IPM Water Resources Symposium held in Boise, ID. During one session, the group decided to focus on pursuing funding for a Western Multistate Project. These projects are sponsored and coordinated by the Western Assoc. of Ag Exp Station Directors. This project would enable a wide range of land grant and non-land grant IPM and water quality researchers, educators, and practitioners to collaborate on IPM and water quality objectives on an ongoing basis.
