PNW 174: Water and Land Use in the PNW Conference

This update highlights our 5th biennial regional water conference titled “Water and Land Use in the PNW: Integrating Communities and Watersheds.” Held on November 4-6, 2009 at the Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Washington the conference was regarded as a huge success by the participants! By focusing on regional challenges and opportunities for sustainable growth and ecosystem protection, the 3-day event was able to draw over 200 scientists, decision makers, and planners from the PNW region. PNW 173: Investigating the Connections between IPM and Water Quality
A symposium will be held in Boise, ID in April to highlight and explore ways to protect and improve water quality with the implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) practices. PNW 157: Achieving Results with Tight Budgets

PNW 154: Highlighting Research and Extension Programs
This update highlights the 2009 annual National Water Conference held in February in St. Louis, Missouri. Over 500 scientists and professionals attended this conference which hosted over 300 oral and poster presentations and seven major water-related symposia. PNW 150: Integrating Communities and Watersheds
This update announces our regional research and outreach conference which will be held in Stevenson, WA in November 2009. The goals of the conference are to 1) link water management and land-use planning to protect water resources, 2) improve interaction between scientists, planners, and decision makers, and 3) establish innovative education methods to reach audiences. PNW 127: 2008 National Water Conference
This update highlights the 2008 National Water Conference held in Reno, Nevada. This conference included 200 oral presentations, 120 poster presentations, and nine symposia. Over 500 scientists and water professionals attended this event. This newsletter issue also highlights national awards presented to outstanding water professionals. PNW 125: Moving Science into Policy and Action
This update highlights our 2007 Regional Conference on Moving Science into Policy and Action. Over 240 people attended this two-day conference in Skamania, WA. Dr. Patrick Leahy (USGS) and Representative Jackie Dingfelder (Oregon) were keynote conference speakers. This conference included a unique mix of presentations, featured speakers, posters, and networking opportunities. PNW 107: National Water Conference Grows – Again!!!
This update covers the National Water Conference held in Savannah, GA in January, 2007. This conference has become the most important annual national conference on water issues. Over 500 people attended this conference which consisted of 340 presented papers and posters. The Pacific Northwest was well represented at this meeting. PNW 102: Regional Extension Faculty Training
This update talks about our regional approach to provide training to our county faculty in Alaska (boroughs), Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. In 2006, 30 agents attended a two day training effort which focused on regional groundwater and surface water issues. PNW 036: WSU's Water Quality Summit
Washington State University's (WSU) Water Quality Summit is highlighted in this flyer. This summit was held on campus in Pullman in April, 2004 and showed that WSU has a substantial investment in water-related activities in research, education and outreach (Extension).
