Find here files to view, print, or copy to your own computer provided by workshop instructors and participants.

  • Files in PDF format require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. If you don't have it installed on your computer, you may do so by clicking here.

  • Files in MS Word or other word processing formats may not be compatible with all computers. Formatting may be lost, so proof on your own computer before printing. This problem can usually be avoided by using the PDF version.

  • If you borrow heavily from other peoples' work, it is customary to give them credit. Most authors appreciated being consulted before hand, even if the work is not copyrighted.

From Ellen Hammond, Oregon Dept. of Agriculture

"I put together the bug handouts, with review by Rick Hafele (DEQ) and Jeff Adams (Xerces). I stole the graphics from various sources. The "Water Bug" handout is for kids under about Grade 5.  The "BMI" handout is for everybody else. It accompanies the Bug and Pony Show Powerpoint Presentation I put together for ag folks, but I have also used it for 8th graders. I invented the "BMI" acronym for the handout to save on space."

From Jason Wolf, Clark County (WA) Public Works

  • "Currents" --- volunteer monitoring newsletter -- first issue, Spring 2004  (PDF)
PNW Water Quality Monitoring Workshop Guide (2001)

A 15-hour short course on voluntary water monitoring was delivered in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho with the support of USDA-NIFA funds in 1999-2000. The course includes eight hours of classroom training and seven hours in the field doing physical, biological, and chemical assessments of surface waters.  The guide for that course is available in PDF (below) and also on the PNW Water Quality web site at: www.pnwwaterweb.com/initiatives/volunteer_monitor.htm

From Gail Andrews, OSU Extension
